Excursion Choice: Scenic Biking along the Rhine

Our two-hour e-bike ride beginning and ending in Rüdesheim takes us along the Rhine and through the vineyards. Approx a 12 mile run. Please note: this tour does not include the coffee tasting or a view of the village.

Option: Rüdesheim Walk to Musikkabinett

We are offering a 30 minute brisk walk from the ship to the for our tour at the Musikkabinett Musuem.

Option: Choo-Choo Train

You may take a TauckFit walk into town or take the Choo Choo train to Musikkabinett Museum. Choo Choo *** 09:20 from Ship. *** Shuttle return: 12:15 pm from Museum to ship.

Excursion Choice: Rüdesheim & the Musikkabinett

Choose to either walk with the tour directors or take the Mini Train for the short journey to visit Siegfried's Musikkabinett, a museum of musical automation with fascinating machines and sounds. Afterward, join your Tauck Directors for a local treat at the Rüdesheimer Schloss. The mini train will be available to bring you back to the ship or alternatively enjoy a stroll back to the ship.

Ping-Pong View of Castle Watching

Sail the most scenic portion of the Rhine. Our Tauck Director, João will be in the Captain's wheelhouse, providing commentary about the history & the legends of the castles & towns. Like a Ping-Pong Game, you will view from all sides. This is a UNESCO-protected area. Listen or View on Sun Deck, the Panorama Lounge or in your cabin by turning on the Info button.

Rüdesheimer Kaffee & Loreley Wellness Drinks

Enjoy the local flavor & Favorite coffee drink of this area, as well as, enjoy a specially made wellness drink for the Loreley. Especially made by Farhan our Bar Manager & his staff.

Option: Walk along the Promenade

Upon arrival, Join your Tauck Directors for a gentle paced orientation walk to the Deutsche Eck, an impressive Romanesque Sankt Kastor, located at the confluence (the German Corner) of the Moselle and the Rhine Rivers.

Near the foot of the Niederwald, surrounded by vineyards, the ruins of Ehrenfels Castle watch over the Rhine Gorge; just around the bend, you'll dock in the winemaking town of Rüdesheim, under the lofty gaze of the famous Neiderwald Monument. The 1000-year-old town charms with its cobblestone streets of storybook houses, cafes, and wine taverns.

Active Walk from the MS Grace to the Musikkabinett Museum: *NO VOX

If you are interested you can join one of your Tauck Directors as an alternative to the Choo-Choo train for a faster paced walk, about 30 mins.  Meet in the Panorama Lounge just before  09:15am to begin your walk.  See the museum and afterwards, try the local coffee treat at the Rüdesheimer Schloss.  It is not to be missed as they explain why the drink is their specialty. 

E-Bike from Rüdesheim:*NO VOX

Alternatively, you can explore this charming, riverside wine town by e-bike viewing this UNESCO Heritage Middle Rhine Valley from the shore.  You will visit a vineyard, however, there is no wine tasting.  

Rüdesheim & the Musikkabinett: *NO VOX

Among its must-see attractions is Siegfried's Mechanisches Musikkabinett, a museum dedicated to antique self-playing musical instruments. Siegfried's mesmerizing collection includes orchestrations, musical clocks, player pianos, fairground organs, self-playing violins, and the world's largest automated doll orchestra. Afterwards, try the local coffee treat at the Rüdesheimer Schloss.

After everyone returns to the riverboat, we will begin our cruise of the romantic Middle Rhine. We will view Sentinel castles, steep sloping vineyards, and towering precipices like the Lorelei Rock.  As we wind past, we will hear the tales and stories with commentary by your Tauck Director.

Once we arrive in Koblenz, we have an opportunity to step ashore  for a walk along the promenade and participate in the local atmosphere of the town.

ARTHUR’S BISTRO

Here you will find 24-hour tea, hot chocolate and coffee, delicious cookies, and healthy snacks. In the morning, enjoy a light continental breakfast offering, and during the day, enjoy casual a la carte dining. In the evening between 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm, Arthur's is available for a sharing-style dining experience or a la carte service. Bar service is available on request. No reservations are required in Arthur's.

BICYCLES / GOLF PUTTERS

See the Reception Desk to use. We have a fleet of low-step-through,21-gear bicycles with handbrakes. Please note a waiver must be signed for the bikes and the provided helmets must be worn.

FITNESS ROOM

Open 24/7, Deck 1. Out of respect for your fellow guests, please refrain from walking or jogging on the Sun Deck after 9:00pm and before 9:00am. Guests must be over the age of 18 or accompanied by an adult to use the fitness center. 

IN-CABIN SAFE

There are instructions for programming your cabin safe located IN the safe itself. Call the Reception Desk (dial 9) for further assistance.

LAUNDRY

Find the services list and laundry bag in the bottom drawer in your cabin closet. Call the Reception Desk or ask your room attendant about pick-up.

LISTENING DEVICES

Please make sure your “VOX” – personal audio device – is placed in the charger in your cabin. Make sure it remains in the charger overnight throughout the tour.  Earpieces are available at the Tauck Travel Desk. Please bring your listening device - "VOX" - every day for the tour, unless we tell you not to.  

LUGGAGE STORAGE

There is space to store your luggage under your bed. Ask your cabin attendant if you require assistance.

ONBOARD SAFETY VIDEO

While unpacking your belongings please be sure to view our Safety Video on your cabin television - Channel 4. We will play the video continuously throughout the cruise. If you have any further questions regarding safety procedures please see the Reception Desk.

RECEPTION

The Reception Desk is open everyday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Please dial 9 in order to contact the night watch outside of these hours. Wake-up calls are available upon request. 

REFRESHMENTS

A cold-water dispenser is located on the Deck 2, foyer, beside the public washrooms. Tauck provides a reusable water bottle in your cabin for use throughout the tour and to take home with you. Snacks are available at anytime, anywhere on the ship, via our "Bite to Eat" menu which can be found in the black folder in your cabin. Order at the bar or by dialing the Reception (dial 9. Available until 11:00 pm.

SHIP SECURITY

All exterior ship doors are locked at all times when docked. Place your cabin keycard against the black sensor pad beside the jamb to open. Please always swipe your keycard on the Tauck Sensor Stand by the doors so that we know who is on and offboard at all times. Additionally, for your stateroom security, ensure that your balcony doors are shut and locked at all times when you leave your stateroom.
